Next year at this time, we will know who our new president is. As the candidates from both parties try to convince the American people to vote for them, it becomes clear that there is not any one candidate who is the ethical and earnest leader that this nation needs so desperately. After 7 years of G.W. Bush's lies and arranging the Constitution to suit his needs, almost 4,000 of our kids dead from fighting in a war that seems endless and a money crisis that is looking more and more like the precursor to another recession if not an all-out depression, this nation needs someone who can heal all the wounds that the Bush administration has created. See "The Most Hated Man in the History of the World". http://opednews.com/kall050804_bush_hated.htm
Senator Clinton states she will not end the war. I will not vote for her. I do not think this country is ready for a female president and certainly not one who is popular with only 50% of the Democratic Party and yells during her speeches. For example: "We need to end the destruction of what George W. Bush and his administration have done to this country NOWWWWW!!" (Amidst polite applause) What is the other 50% thinking? Senator Obama does not clearly state that he will end the war. I will not vote for him. John Edwards states that he will end the war. The media will always go for the "down-in-the-mud" stories instead of giving the American public a total picture of all of the candidates and their positions. Watch the news on any channel on any night and these two men are barely mentioned or not mentioned at all. Instead the drone goes on about Hillary and Obama...what they did, what they said, what they wore...on and on.
The November elections brought us new people to the House and Senate. Most of them ran with the promise to end the war as "soon as they were elected." As it is with many politicians, they told the American people "what they thought we wanted to hear" so they could be elected. They do not seem to understand that the ubiquitous "Support the Troops" cry could actually mean "Bring them home." They refuse to go head-to-head with an intellectually challenged president and his puppets in his administration and senate. Some of them even travel to Iraq with heavily armed body guards, helicopters above and an entourage of dozens. With cameras running they kneel down and ask the soldiers how they think and feel about the war. These are 18-22 year old kids who have most likely never had a meaningful moment of fame in their lives. What are they supposed to tell this Congressman or Senator? Is it possible that with all of the hoopla that they will say exactly what the politician wants to hear? That is: "Let us win Sir" What is the definition of winning in a country that is 20 centuries older than we are? Why is it that no politician who advocates for Mr. Bush's war can define winning?
Mayor Giuliani seems like a cartoon character and does not look his opponents in the eyes during the Republican debates. I was always taught that if a person cannot look you in the eyes when talking or even arguing, he or she is not to be trusted. The man has rested on his supposed laurels of the attacks on 9/11 and really does not seem to understand the macro vision of the world that is a prerequisite for any American president. One has to at least wonder how many wives or mistresses he would go through in an 8 year presidency. Mr. Romney "looks too good and talks too wise" (Rudyard Kipling) and at the same time seems confused when asked a question during the debates. I will not vote for him.
A person's religion should not be a factor in the election of the American president. I do not want the Evangelical Right Wing radicals dictating who should be our president. Governor Huckabee's name alone will eliminate him from ever being a serious candidate. "President Huckabee"?? The pundits would eat the guy alive.
The Republican candidates are nothing more than clones of G.W. Bush. John McCain? I will not vote for a man who has seen the ravages of war and still wants to send our young men and women into the horrors of war with a country that never did anything to the USA and then be maimed or killed or even captured. How can he possibly be so convinced that more war is the answer?
We need an honest and ethical president. Let us all hope this can happen and the nation and world can somehow heal from all the damage that Bush has done.
